hey guys, I need some new tires, so I've been looking and my friend got some 31' Wild Country tires, that look sweet, does anyone know who makes them and what are some resonable prices to pay to walk in and walk out w/new tires and aligned? Or some other good tires BF Goodwrinch are too expensive.
Thanks,
Nick

You may want to try looking into a set of Courser OTD's. I have been through 3 sets of them & have averaged around 35,000 with each set. That was pulling a gooseneck trailer & hauling around an 8'6" snow plow all winter. These tires are a lot cheaper than BFG's& last just as long.
those guys have a web page? Or what would I expect to pay for a set of them, BTW my dad told me that if I put on those set of tires, i'll ruin the tranny, (the tranny is slowly dying, took it to shop says 1 year, about 3-4 months ago) and I havebeen taking it easy on it. But my question is if I put on the 31's would it hurt it? I mean I'd like to try and spin em a few times but it cannot hurt it that bad right?
Thanks,
Nick

Go to you're local tire dealer and tell them what your looking for (I'm asssuming a mud terrain tire). All the big name tire manufacturers also make 'Off Brand' tires like MasterCrafts that are almost identical, but for a cheaper price.
So far I'm really happy with my General Grabber MT's I got 4 months ago. I've put about 6k on them and there's still no signs of wear. The road noise isn't bad at all, and they don't seem to wander like some other mud terrains to on pavement. Plus they're a lot cheaper than BFG's and have the EXACT same tread pattern.
Thank you sir,
exactly what I needed to hear, but what about the effects on the tranny with bigger tires? does anyone know?
Thanks,
Nick

yea i have a set of wild country RVT's on my 1/2 ton ford. they do look sweet and i have been gettin about 40,000 miles out of them. i am a farmer and are on gravel roads and off road all the time. we have them on every vehicle we have. ( all fords )i had to up grade to 16 inch wheels to get them. they fill the fender. when my tires were brand new they were squirley as heck on the road. dont go thinking that you are jeff gordon and take a corner what you usually do. you can feel your rear end come around. but after your get 2,000 miles on them they stiffen up. i highly recomend the RVT,s they shouldnt give your tranny problems. and when you burn em' it looks like 3 straight lines. I havent gotten stuck with these tires yet and ive had mud up in my grille (94 f-350 dually) they are only 31x8.50 i am gonna lift my truck soon and im gonna try to get the 35x12.50. im just curious about how much mud they will go through..hope this helps

I've got a set of 33"x12.50 Wild Country's on my "95" f150. To the best of my knowledge, only Les Schwab tire centers here in the pacific northwest handle them. They are a damn good tire. Got 33,000 on mine with at least another 10,000 to go.
