Super Duty on tailgate?

2008 was the first year for the stamping, it has become a popular swap onto earlier S/Ds...I understand that they are often available on Ebay as new take-offs, and that some part of the latch must be gotten from Ford to install on an earlier truck.

It is the drivers side hinge or whatever you want to call it, on the older superduties it is a cup to fit the rubber piece on the tailgate into, while on the 08's and up it is designed to fit into a slot on the tailgate which is where the torsion bar is.

Lol, they have a torsion bar inside them to assist when lifting to close, makes them feel much much lighter. 04+ F150 has them as well.
