My F350 has a CoolStart RS900 (by CrimeStoppers). I'm not sure what kind of remote starter is in my F250, but it hasn't been working properly for the past month or so. The starter engages but then it just keeps "clicking" so I have to jump in and hit the brake to stop it before it fries the darn starter (which, by the way, I just replaced in June). No clue what is wrong with it, but I am looking to replace it.
If you've got remote start, what kind? What do you like/not like about it?
I'm leaning towards another CoolStart. After an accident with the F350, the windshield leaked (two freakin' years after the fact) and the CoolStart was FILLED with water. I sent it back to CrimeStoppers, and they sent me a brand new one, no questions asked! How awesome is that!
I have a Viper ( I forgot what model) remote start with paging system. It has not given me any problems other than my 1 year old son set a timer for it to turn on every 24 hours. I had to read the instructions to reset it.
I had a Viper 5701 remote start/keyless/alarm system installed last week. It's a 2-way system with a pretty good range of 2000 feet. The 2-way feature is nice since it allows me to confirm the truck actually started when I start it from a ways away. It also allows for programming the wait to start time via the remote control. It can go up to 45 seconds when programming from the remote and even more if you take it in to have it programmed.
I have an Autopage alarm/remote start with turbo cool down. I have it set up to run for 5 mins, figured that was enough time to cool those egt's. I paid about $250 for mine.
I have a Viper. Installed a couple weeks ago. The only thing I don't like about it is the lights and horn don't go off when i hit the lock button twice. I think it may be a programming issue. I will check with the installer to see. It has a turbo timer and I have it set at 2 minutes right now. I really like it and I paid $279 installed.
