Which 65 do you have? 2wd or 4wd?
I've got one left that fits:
1965 F100/250 2WD / 1966 F100 4WD
needs a little work on the top but is solid no rust.
I've got four:
1961/64 F100/250 2WD/4WD / 1961/66 F350/600 / 1965 F100/250 4WD / 1966 F250 4WD.
That's all I have left. Got rid of a lot at Pomona swapmeet a couple of weeks ago.

Got mine from Dennis Carpenter - $300 + $80 shipping. This is the 64 support, so I have a bit of work to do to it. But it is nice working with new metal. The support is in, installing the radiator this weekend. The fender braces from the 65 have to be welded on to this support. That task is weeks away, just trying to fire up the thing before the new year. See my gallery you can see the new support, I'll take some photos of the radiator bracket and the fender bracket mod as I do them.

The 65 and 6 supports CAN be used on their opposites as far as original application...BUT you need to swap the battery tray as well as the radiator side straps from one to the other. The repop core will NOT fit any 65 or 66 1/2 or 3/4 ton 2wd truck

Yes and no.
It can be made to fit. You need to transfer the radiator brackets, the battery tray and the angle pieces for the inner aprons (or make new ones; it's just angle steel). The dimensions of the supports are otherwise the same. It's just not a bolt-in. Given the difficulty of finding good used ones (at least in my half of the country), modding the repro ones is pretty much the only solution for most of us.

As Camperspecial65 said the repops will not fit out of the box, takes some work to make them work on a 65/66 but the work isn't too difficult. The above thread details the steps should you go repop. If gangstakr has an original that would be the way to go.

the inner fenders are the same on all 65-6 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks which use the angled aprons, the 65 and 66 F250 4wd and 65 F100 4wd use the rounded aprons which also use the 61-4 core support...There was a mint 66 2wd core support on ebay a cpl days ago...one problem...he/she used the spot weld cutter and removed the fender apron brackets...the holes cant be welded shut and angle brackets rewelded in the same spot...in other words...its junk.

The repop core will NOT fit any 65 or 66 1/2 or 3/4 ton 2wd truck

the holes cant be welded shut and angle brackets rewelded in the same spot...in other words...its junk.

BUT you need to swap the battery tray as well as the radiator side straps from one to the other.

Say What? Did a grinder and flap wheel suddenly become illegal to take down the left behind plugs. did rosette welds sudden become not allowed? or perhaps one has not heard of the material called copper? To be used as a backer to fill holes...(its like PAM cooking spray no stick)

As for a 65 to 66 core just use a 65 radiator with a 65 core and a 66 with a 66 core. no need to swap anything. If one is rebuilding the truck it likely needs a new radiator.

I made a entire core support with nothing more than a slap hammer some bucks and 18 guage CR. long before they were re popped.

Anything can be fixed or modified. The 61 to 64 repops are a SIMPLETON conversion. Add two brackets and drill a hole for the battery box....Holy **** you make this out to be something hard....The only difference is the inner apron bracket and the mounts for the radiator. The basic core stamping is identical. It is exactly the same dimensionally to the frame mounts to the fender bolt openings to the hood latch.

And if you do not want to mess with the rad wings order a 65 F100 F250 or 66 F250 4x4 radiator for your FE or 240/300.... no need to do anything else.

If you don't want to weld. pop rivet or zip screw the inner apron brackets in place. All they are is 1 x 1 1/2 18 gauge angle...

unless you are taking it to Pebble Beach or doing a 100 point restore its meaningless as the core can simply be modified to fit ant year slick.

I am not picking, just incredulous that someone with your knowledge would post such a statement.

Garbz... I agree with what you said, but as i said if you want it to be dead nuts correct the support I saw on ebay...and Im sure others on here saw ...that support with the cut holes is no good...I went over every scenario with my dad...he is every bit as **** about correctness as I am...and the conclusion was it couldnt be used on a points rig...but for a driver...snag some brakets and some bolts and nuts and go to town...
The other difference as to the early support vs the 65/6 ones was the location of the battery which is on the firewall RH side for 2wd trucks or under the RH floor on 4 wd 1/2 and 3/4 ton rigs.

CS i agree if one wants concourse one has to look hard an far and have deep pockets. However i can repair that unit on e bay back to concourse specs and 100 points with some judicous metal working and massaging.

I think most want something viable and reasonably priced to replace a rare 65 and 66 core support.

The 61 to 64 base core is easily modified to do this. I can even make this core look like a 65 or 66 and you wont tell the difference if i metal work it correctly by adding stamped in detail to the brackets.

I think also that most do not realize that all you need is a 65 or 66 4x4 radiator for your FE or I6 engine, 460 can use a FE radiator.

Also you can change the inner passeger inner apron in 4x4 65 F100/F250's and 66 F250's. Add a battery tray for your battery in the engine compartment if you dont like the battery hidden under the floor.

The passenger apron is not repoped for 4x4s but the 2 wheel drive ones can be used even if one does not add the battery box. the flat spot is a good place for a tool kit, road flares, jack ect.

Most stuff will mix and match. The only thing not interchangable is the round type aprons for 4x4s or F350s and 61 to 64 2 wheel drives and the square type of the 65 66 as the cowl mounts are not able to be revised to accomidate either type.
