Hello y'all and thank you for welcoming me to the Arizona Chapter of the Forum. After perusing all of the other new member "welcomes" and feeling the pain of your disappointment at the lack of response, I felt compelled to write (so no-one hurts themselves in grief) and tell you a little about my Ford collection.

Okay, first of all, i used to be the proud owner of a 1997 Ford F250HD 7.3ltr Diesel Ext. Cab Long Box 4WD Roll Along Conversion truck (gotta love the headlights in the rear bumper that came on with the backups), which I used every day for work until about 190K miles and a change in job description. That was a great truck!

I own but am putting up for sale, a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria LX with the HPP package and every option including air ride suspension, but without the leather. It is white and looks like a Police car, and recently I was informed by Arizona DPS that the front tint (which was on the car when I purchased it 1.5 yrs ago) is toooooooo dark for them to see inside to identify me as a hoodlum. It is a great car that is in awsome shape, clean, beautiful, cold cold cold AC, great mileage and has about 63K miles on it. But alas, it's gotta go.

My latest ford purchase is a 2004 Ford Excursion Limited 4x4 6.0ltr PSD purchased within the last month from the original owner. I looked it over good, purchased it for $16,650.00 and took it straight to the dealer for some warranty work on the EGR, EGR Cooler and HPOP. As soon as I got it back, I installed an AMSOIL by-pass filtration kit and a Dieselsite By-pass coolant filtration kit. I custom made a bracket to accomodate both next to each other on the passenger side of the hood. Also, I pulled the ECM and installed a wire ran to a switch for the famous "high idle mod" as detailed in the Excursion Forum. It is a sweet truck, runs great and I use it on a daily basis for work. I am an electrical consultant and I specialize in airfield lighting design and inspection, so it is set up for airfield access with the appropriate lights, logos etc.

I really do appreciate all of the help this Forum provided in assisting me to make a great purchase as well as some modifications to my vehicle that will help me make this buggy last. It is a big hairy beast! But then again, it's been a while since any one accused me of being 'skinny'.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Great intro! Thank you for that.

In what part of our great state do you park the Ex at night?

AZBLUEWOLF ... Thanks for the greetings! I'll be sure and let my mother know that I actually do fit in somewhere!

CRJFlyer ... Well, it's a little disconcerting telling a man in a mask what I do with my ex at night ... Ahem ... I just realized by "EX" you probably mean the truck and not the woman. Please forgive my man in the mask comment.

The Ex resides in the beautiful City of Mesa, Az, east valley metro area. Doesn't quite fit in the garage, but sits just right in the driveway.

I took the Ex over Four Peaks mountain trail yesterday and got some good photos of it against the snowy peak backdrop. As soon as I figure out how, I'll post photos. I plan on using one for my 'next to my name' photo. Had a lot of fun and the truck ran great and the trip gave me a chance to use the 4WD.

Anyway, glad to be part of the forum!

Thanks,

Jonathan

OK someone has to tell me how to get on top of Four Peaks. I missed that memo.

Glad to have another East Valley type around here.

Thanks again for all of the welcomes!

Here's a pic of the Excursion on the top of Four Peaks at the hiking trail head with the snowy peaks in the background.

<hr size=4 width="80%">

I guess you'd have to enlist the help of a rather large helicopter to get your vehicle on top of the actual peaks, but if you want to get close...

Take Highway 87 (Beeline Highway) East toward Payson from Fountain Hills. Approximately 10 miles past the "Bush Highway" (goes to Saguaro Lake and Mesa from Beeline) you will come to a dirt trail on the right or south side of the road that has a sign for it which says something like "Four Peaks Recreational Area". If you follow the dirt road in past the restrooms, and stay on the main dirt trail, the biggest most well traveled one, then you will keep winding around until eventually you will come to the top of Four Peaks. Somewhere I have the Arizona Trails map and I'll find the actual Forest Service Road Number (I believe it is No. 143, but not positive) and give you that info. When you get to the top, you may opt to continue down the east side of the mountain and you will come out on the Lake Roosevelt side of the mountain on Highway 188. From there you may either turn Left (North) and proceed to the 188 / 87 junction (called Oracle Junction) or, if you are still feeling adventuresome, you may turn Right (South) and turn Right (West) in Highway 88 at the Roosevelt Dam and come back through Fish Creek Hill, Tortilla Flat and Apache Junction.

Thanks,

Jonathan
