Glow plug light

My truck has for awhile now crank up normally. I let it warm up for about five to ten minutes before i drive to work. At least twice a week it will get goind down the road nore more than a minute and no faster than 20 mph and the engine drops power. The glow plug light comes on and for about five to ten seconds its stays dead then the power comes back. Any ideas? Not to mention my truck has hiccups all the time and when im running down the interstate and the truck gets into overdrive and the rpms hit a low cruising level it starts shuttering. I cant tell if its the engine falling in or out or if its the transmission. Im leaning towards the engine.

If your glow plug light comes on while driving it probably means that you have an electrical problem that results in low voltage to your truck's ECM.

Check out some of the messages dealing with wire harness problems or battery connection problems that seem to duplicate what you are seeing.

Some questions:

Have you pulled any DTC's?

Have you load checked your batteries, etc? (What Lou suggested above)
Low voltages can cause many problems - even cause FICM failure.

What oil are you running?
Recommend 5W40 synthetic - especially for winter

Do you have the Inductive Heat Flash?
This is a "must-have" IMO

Have you checked for wire chaffing?

SOME COMMON CHAFING LOCATIONS ARE: UPPER LEFT VALVE COVER, VALVE COVER BOLT, AND INTAKE BOLTS, UNDER AND NEAR THE FICM.

Here is some information from some TSB's:
"Some 2003-2005 Excursion, 2003-2007 F-Super Duty and 2004-2009 E-Series vehicles equipped with a 6.0L diesel engine may experience no starts, hard starts or rough running when cold and may be accompanied with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0611, P1378 and / or all 8 injector circuit codes. These symptoms may lessen or disappear when the engine is warm. These conditions may be caused by the Fuel Injection Control Module (FICM) or injector spool valve sticking internally during cold engine operation."

For information: Symptoms of stiction (These conditions are caused by the injector spool valve sticking internally during cold engine operation engine oil temperature) can be improved by using the lightest possible specified weight oil during winter months. Refer to the Owner Guide Information - Diesel Supplement / Maintenance and Specifications / Engine oil specifications.
