I don't have an answer but instead a question- do you have the zoodad mod on your truck? Thats alot to get thru the stock hole. Makes me wonder... I would think it would be OK once it dries, its a pretty thick filter, but hopefully someone more knowledgeable can give a better answer.
wow to say the least i would think mayb reusin it would be ok after drying... but personally i'd get a new filter i guess it's possible that it could have been damaged... i think not likely though
If you have the blue media - it is synthetic and does not degrade with water contact like the white media does.
The folks that do my oil analysis suggest more frequent air filter changes than Ford does, so I have change it a little more often than required. Anyways, patrickke's advice is very good even if it is the blue media.
This happened with my truck before I owned it, saw it on the oasis when I got it. I think it just needs to be the right circumstances for it to happen because I've been driving in the wicked cold and lots of snow and so far no problems for me.

I have put over 26,000 miles on my truck since we purchased it and I have never changed the air filter. I go by the filter minder gauge which always shows "ok". Do you recommend changing it anyway after a certain amount of miles? Thanks!!
I changed my 05's at 25k (apprx) to see if fuel economy picked up and my 2006 was changed between 20k and 25k. I absolutely do not think either was necessary. I keep detailed track of fuel economy (w/ notes on driving conditions) and saw no difference on the changes (plotted the mpg along w/ another graphical look for changes in data sets). On the 2006, the UOA folks gave me several analyses that were slightly elevated in silicon (17 ppm once and then 15 ppm) and they recommended changing the filter. I was pretty skeptical, but I did it anyway. The number did come down to 13 the next analysis and then down to 7 eventually (2 later). I really think the improvement was unrelated to the filter change though.
Way too many folks I respect (several connected w/ Ford and others being long time posters on various forums) that say the filter minder is the way to go (and the capabilities can be as high as 75k to 80k miles depending on conditions - ie 3 lbs of dirt). The only way now that I would change it before the filter minder indicates to, would be if I saw a drop in mpg.
the only thing though when you go to get a new filter be prepared to have around 60 bucks to replace it...i went the extra mile on mine and realized if i replaced it 3 times than id pay for a cold air intake....just a thought bc the cheapest i could get a filter in my neck of the woods was 80 bucks (bc i didnt want to drive home and get one from my home town which i get a large discount at the ford dealer via a fleet discount, and the dealer in owensboro is kinda shady in my experience ((this dealer tried a bait and switch and i didnt fall for it)))...but to end my rambling its expensive to replace these filters
The last price I got on an air filter was just over $50 (with a $250 order from the website below). I order parts for folks I work with, so I can get the free shipping and the 5% discount. This price is a few months old, so not sure if it has gone up or not.
