This site is amazing, the amount of help you get here is unbelievable. I have another question that I hope I can get
some advise on. Again, I have a 1986 F250 4x4. I would like
to get some new shocks, and am looking for a comfortable ride.
I will not be towing or off-roading. Just commuting in the snow
(hopefully not too much) and making trips to Home Depot, Lowes and the dump. No really heavy loads. I was looking at some HECKETHORN ROUGH COUNTRY NITRO 9000 GAS SHOCKS or KYB MONOMAX PERFORMANCE GAS SHOCKS. Does anyone have any experience with
either of these? Or can someone give me some other ideas?
Thanks for your help.
I put KYB shocks in my father 1989 extended cab f150. They were just the basic replacement shock, don't know if they were the monomax performance ones. I found the ride to be a little bouncy. I would not get them in my truck. I have the Monroe Reflex in the back and its a lot stiffer than the KYBs.

The Rough Countrys are a pretty stiff shock. For your truck I would just get some stock replacements since you dont have big tires and wont be hauling or off-roading.
You are using the truck for daily use. So you don't need a serious off road shock. I'd vote for the Monroe Gas Magnums. Their big, they work, they have a liftime guarentee. And you can buy them anywhere.
