Hello folks, I need some help here....last time I had my E250 on the highway, I noticed that when I would take my foot off the pedal (at highway speed- 70 or so) I would hear what seemed to be "growling" through the exhaust. Is this indicative of an intake/exhaust manifold leak? The exhaust system is rough, but the growl is new.
if you want to do a double whammy of good to your truck, seafoam it while its hot. the seafoam has its own benefits, and if the manifold is leaking, youll see the smoke coming from between the mani and the head.

If you have the old log style manifold and it does have a leak, I would suggest dropping the cash you would use to replace the logger to replace it with EFI manifolds.
You will first have to definitely isolate the source of the sound which may then lead to a possible indication of what might actually be causing the sound. "..growling" through the exhaust just doesn't pop up on the trouble shooting guides.
Have you checked for vacuum and exhaust leaks yet?
