Bought a 90 F250,(pics soon) and the person that had it last cobbled the hell out of it. He bought it from a bank auction, and it apparently had no keys so he busted the steering column out to try and start it.
Now here is where I get the trouble, I don't know if he done it, or the feller that had it before him. Had a toggle on the dash that is used to start it, turn on key, flip toggle! I went and got a column today and put it in. The dash lights come on but won't start. I got to looking and couldn't find the neutral safety switch anywhere. I did see a connector hanging down with 6 wires in it. This is where I think the truck was automatic. The plug is flat and long. If is the neutral switch, which wires do I cross to bypass it?
Thanks, but the parts stores here didn't have a manual for it,, done looked,, that's why I am posting the question on here! Library doesn't open till Monday!!
I found the plug,, ended up being the flat plug I mentioned earlier. With trial-N-error, I found the two red wires bypass the safety switch. I would hook it up, but there is no switch on the clutch rod, I have to get one. I just installed the jumper for the moment so it will start.
OTHER COOL NEWS!:
I found a separate little light in the head light housing. I figured it was one of those glow bulbs like when you are only running the marker lights. WRONG! I traced the wires and found a Jacobs Electronics box on the fender. Got to reading the stickers on it and on the wires. I believe it is a strobe system for the head lights like emergency personnel use. That should be fun off-road!! What do ya think? Hook it up?
I used to subscribe to a magazine called Dirt Rag it was kinda a mointain man meets mointain bike mag. I keep remembering an article about going riding in the woods at night with just a strobe light, It still sounds like fun to me.
