I found this in the Workshop Manuals for my 07 SD, Section 100-02 Jacking and Lifting. It's listed as a "jacking point," but should it only be used with a lift, or can you use a regular floor jack on the radius arm? Just wondering, since I've been told lifting from under the front diff is a bad way to put a jack stand under the front axle.
It would seem like if the suspension extends, the radius arm would rotate relative to the ground, and this jacking point wouldn't work, even on a lift. So it would have to stay compressed?
Apparently it serves some useful purpose, or it wouldn't be in the manual.
Yeah, thats exactly what I thought. But what about the 6K-rate spring and 1200 lbs of diesel enginge rotating the arm when the jack trys to lift? It seems like a lever to me. Maybe I'll just try it tomorrow.
I'm an accountant. So wheres and engineer or a mechanic?
