hi guys I'm new to the forums. I have a '79 f150 4x4 I bought from my wifes cousin for 3000. I've had it couple years and it is time for me to rebuild the engine, problem is not sure what I have. Her cousin said it was a 351 cleveland he put in it but another guy told me it was a 400 modified. How can I tell the difference. It's a huge motor. this is am basing off my experiance with chevy's 350s Cause thats all I have worked on. Any pointers?
cool thx for the info. Me and my brother fixen to pull engine and tranny. The water does go into the block like the pic for the Cleveland does. Is there a difference between the 351C and 351M? I apologize for all these noob questions I just want to get it right. This truck would spin all 4 of the 35x15.5
swamers that it wore at one time. I want it to do it again so i want to do this right.
You probably have an M. The C motor had a lower deck height, more in line with a 350 Chev. The M had a tall deck, about as high as a 460, and taller than an FE. Thus, the huge appearance.
Check this info. These engines can be made into good performers.
