Have a 95 Bronco with 5.8, I turn the key on and fuel pump doesn`t shut off. Changed fuel pressure regulator still no shut off. Changed relays, no help. Have 38 pounds pressure with key on, but no start. Checked spark just in case, and have fire. Dont know what to try next. Ant help would be appreciated.
spray some starting fluid and see if it'll fire. I had a broncoII that the pump ran all the time w/ koeo and wouldnt start. It was shutting off when I started cranking it then right back on when I let off the key. If you are keeping press. while cranking, thats probably not your problem, but the pump shouldnt keep running for more than a few seconds wit koeo. If it will run off of starting fluid and you have pressure then you probably arent getting injector pulse, wich is sometimes caused by a bad computer
Good idea, I`ll go to store and get some, of course I have every other spray in the world, but no starting fluid. I guess it`s too hot down here, haven`t needed it since I left TN.
Right you are. Carb cleaner worked just fine. New problem, it kept running. Lot of black smoke, didn`t want to rev over 2500 rpm. Atleast I was able to move it to a good spot. Thank you for the tip. Great job. Check engine light is on. Something black flew out the exhaust, possibly converter breaking up? Cant check codes because pump still doesn`t shut off with key on. Got another great idea? I HOPE!!!!!!
I'd try to figure out why the pump doesnt shut off. The BII i worked on ended up being the eec power relay only sending 5 volts to everything instead of 12, including the fuel pump relay, which made it stick on.. You need a voltmeter to check it, testlight would be difficult. You can try tapping on the relays to see if the pump shut off
power goes through the eec relay to the fuel pump relay then to the pump. My eec relay had burnt up points and was only supplying 5v to the fuel pump relay. Somehow it also caused the pump to run all the time with koeo.
Yes, check voltage. Also check the ECM ground at the battery. You may have an injector driver stuck wide open causing it to flood itself. I have had 2 different 94 cars do this. Bad ECM.
