difference between 05 and 08 supercrew???

difference between 05 and 08 supercrew???

Hey guys I have a 2008 4x4 f150 supercrew and a buddy of mine as the same truck except 2005. Is there a height difference between the two because he has 33inch all terrains on it and they rub and I was told I could put 35 inch tires on mine. So is there a big difference between the two. Thanks

35" tires will not fit a stock height 4x4 F-150

are you both 4x4? or one 4x2 and the other 4x4?



ride height:
only 1 difference between all the years:
Rear: # of rear leaf springs...07+ trucks have 1 less. Same ride height overall though
Front: The front end is identical except for the shocks. 4x4 shock is 1" taller than a 4x2 shock.

The 07+ leaf springs are wider also. Is my 08 the same as an 04? Not hardly. They have made many changes since 2004, and not all aesthetic either. You'd have to go back and read the 2004 reviews, followed by the 05, then 06, 07, and 08's to see them all. I did.

My father has a 05 4x2 lariat stock. I have a 06 lariat stock. Both are supercrews. Mine has one less set of leaf springs than his.

my 06 only has 3 leafs as well. but according to Ford, they started doing this in 2007...you'll also find some of the 04/05 trucks only have 3 leafs as well

Must be a cost reduction feature. 3 slightly bigger leafs is probably a lot cheaper than 4 smaller ones. I guess from an engineering perspective, both can achieve the same end result.

very well could be...I'm just confused on why you can find 3 and 4 leafs on the 04-06 trucks

we originally thought it was a tow package thing...but I've got 3 leafs and the tow package


beginning to wonder if maybe it's a plant thing. Like Dearborne got a different set from the other plant

Mine has the tow package and 3 leafs also. Dunno', but I'm looking for a reason.

yea both trucks are 4x4 both are pretty much identical both black 4x4 supercrews only diff is mines is 2008 and his is 2005. We both have leveling kits on the front but he has 33 inch tires and they rub on his. I have stock tires right now. I was wondering if the 33s would rub on my truck cause i have heard that the height was diff by a little bit.

also, how wide are his tires? and OEM rims?

a 12.5" wide tire on OEM rims is the absolute max you can run with these trucks using OEM rims



you can run 33" tires on a bone stock 4x4 truck. My truck came with 32" tires OEM and there was alot of room for more.



you only need a leveling kit if you want to run tires bigger than 33"...like a 35" tire

see he has a leveling kit but his 33s rub. He has 33inch all terrains

we need more details Nathan.


1. His tire size (the entire part...IE: 33/12.5/17 or 285/75/17)
2. His Leveling kit size and brand
3. His rims size and brand (how wide, offset...etc)


I can think of 2 reasons a 33" A/T would rub.
1. wrong sized rims or offset not correct
2. wider tires than 12.5"

like I said, a 33" tire on a OEM bone stock 4x4 won't rub

Still Smokin... How did the add a leaf effect your handling and ride quality. Is the road vibration a lot more after the 4th spring? I was thinking about adding an extra leaf for hauling, but was hesitant as my truck picks up every small bump in the road.
