BFG commercial traction ta. Awesome in snow and ready for studs. They are about 200 bucks each installed.I have grabbers on the excursion and they don't hold a candle to the BFGs
I have the oem continentals, they are crap also in this snow, (live in Didsbury,) fountain tire has the wranglers on sale right now, not sure how good they are though.
You may want to check out the Toyo Open Country A/T. They're not cheap, but supposed to be very good. I intend to use them when I need new rubber. Just my 2 cents....
I just put Wrangler Silent Armour's on my truck and so far, I really like them. I had the Bridgestone's on before and they were not so good. The Goodyear's ride much better and very good in snow so far. Go to tire rack website, do a search on your size tire. Then check out the reviews of people who purchased them. The Silent Armour's got all good reviews. Don't waste the money on the regular Wrangler's - they are no good either.
I have stock wrangler 275/65-20s VERY bad in snow. Anyone have any recommendations? I need a more open tread pattern. Thanks, John
The best winter tires carry the "Severe Snow" rating... The only two tires that I am aware of (other than snow tires) that carry this rating are BFGoodrich T/A KO and General Grabber AT2. Both can be used year-round. IMO The next best are the Michelin A/T2, Bridgestone Revo, Cooper ATR or the two which were previously mentioned: Goodyear SA and Toyo's.
So there definitely are a few good one's to choose from... The down side is most of those tires won't wear nearly as well as a Highway All-Season tread.
FWIW I have given up trying to find the perfect tire and have two sets: Studded snow tires for the winter and stock all-season's for the summer when I do my heavy pulling.
BFGoodrich T/A KO is what I ran on my 99 f-250. They worked really well in the snow. A few times while plowing I forgot to put it in 4-wheel drive, still got great traction. Got about 50k miles out of them.
The problem really seems finding tires made in the size I need. Without changing rims, has anyone found decent rubber to fit these 08 350s? There are a lot of great tires out there, but I haven't found any to fit this truck. BFGoodrich web site states no tires available for vehicle.
What size exactly?I have a friend with a tire shop that tells he can get the commercial traction ta.I was going to get a second set studded but mine were clean enough for him to stud.
I had the ContiTrac A/S and I noticed they were wearing badly. If you look at the specs at TireRack.com they are only 12/32's vs 71.5 or 16/32 for most other brands.
I got the Michelin LtX AT/2 nice tire.. $1150 at Sears.
My Goodyear Silent Armor tires have the mountain with snowflake symbol which I belive is the severe snow rating. I think your size is available and I will say the traction is awesome.
