Just got back from running around giving my Trxus tires a good test on the ice. All the roads around here are coverd with a thick sheet of compact ice. I went around for a few hours pulling people out of ditches, the roads are litterd with cars and lesser SUV's and pickups that can't get around. The tires I thought did quite well for a large mud tire I personally had no problems getting around on the steep hills around here most of the time in 2wd with an open diff. There were a few times I needed more traction pulling people out, as soon as I started spinning and polishing/heating the ice all traction was gone.
Bottom line I think they did vary well. The only tires I could expect to do better are studded and ice tires like blizacks. I can say that a tire with a larger lug like a traditional swamper would have done worse.
so quick question not to hijack or anything
would u guys prefer the bfg mts mickey tompson baja claws or the Trxus mt's
for mud weekends and reg driving during the week
thanks

I would say not the Baja claws, I haven't heard many flatering things about these, they look cool but here they don't hook that well or last very long. BFG MTs vs Trxus is more interesting and I think a choice that needs more examining of your needs.
ohh yeah the mickeys do look pretty cool hah
but idk i drive on the road but like to go mudding when i can i have mickey baja belted i havnt got stuck yet
but i noticed the trxus is a cheeper tire than the bfg
do they wear about the same?
well #1 rule is mud tires SUCK on snow and any tire except studded suck on ice...mud tires have bigg azz thick lugs with lots of space between them while thats good for mud thats opposite for snow/ice which usually require smaller/siped lugs with less void to give it more surface to surface...

thanks for the report back!! hell i f your truck was moving on ice in two wheel drive with the trxus mt's,that is already better than the bfg no terrains on my truck now. The other day we had a little snow/ice on the streets and my truck would hardly move in 2wd,had to lock it in to get rolling.
> I run Maxis BigHorns and they do great on my bronco II
me 2 x!
I had SSRs, they were pretty good in the mud and had siping, though I do not think enough for ice.
Mud tires usually do very well in snow, their weak spot is ice. Though if you air them down for a snow storm so the tread is flat, the softer tire compound does pretty good on ice.

Bighorns and SSRs would do that. Under $200, SSR might not met that depending on size. One thing I would like to point out, my SSRs like most Interco tires required a lot of weight to balance. One of the 33s took 14 oz. The Bighorns did not.

True, I have to admit my Trxus aren't the roundest tires. But I am not using any balance weights.
I found something better that I decided to try with these tires and is proving a great success. I am using a product called Dynabeads http://www.innovativebalancing.com/ it's a bunch of heavy but tiny ceramic beads that go inside the tire and self balance the tire as you drive. I did alot of research before deciding to go this route and found a bunch of guys saying great things about this stuff like they worked great and increased the tires life alot, and almost no one with anything bad to say even in some of the other lessor more negative forums.
It is working out great but a new experiance. At any speed over about 40 there smooth as glass. But at slow speeds it's interesting, when you slow down the beads settle in the bottom of the tire and roll around until your going fast enough for them to ride around the inside of the tire. This isn't a problem when it comes to balance cause it doesn't matter at low speeds, but it feels kinda funny. When you get going if I have my window down I can here them rolling around, it sounds like I have a leak, then at about 30mph they start to stick to the inside of the tire and it will feel out of balance for a few rotations until they spread out then it's smoooooth. I think it is vary worth it though, no wheel weights, no worry's at speed about balance, the tires should last longer because they are always purfestly balanced, and because they are constantly rebalancing the tire they automaticaly compinsate for mud, rocks, or anything else that would change the balance of the tire. These things are going in everything I own from now on.
Edit, because they work like mass dampers they are also reducing any tire shake side to side, I was considering adding a steering stabilizer until I put these things in.
i have pro comp xterme all terrians and they have been working great in the snow and rain here and they do pretty good in the mud, but not like a true mud tire does (they dont clean out as well) but they look great and are a directional tread. i got them for 110 a piece in 31/10.50
