Banks and 08 v10 =5.5" tips Whoa
Just saw on the banks website that they are offering a 5.5 inch tip for their 2008 monster exhaust kit, the 05-06 get a 5" , I think the 99-04 get a 4'. The largest tip I have seen as a standalone with a 3 inch inlet had a 4.5 outlet and was from Gibson. Anybody put a tip larger than 4" on their GASSER yet ?

I thought a larger tip was not just cosmetic but did change the sound of the exhaust to a deeper or louder tone, a gain in performance is obviously not possible. Hey tastes change, 20 inch rims are now very commonplace and OEM, 5 years ago they were nonexistant. I still prefer the look of 17 inch rims but also think that a 4-5" exhaust tip would look decent. 20 inch rims are also growing on me if yah got the sidewall.

I once had a guy, and I kid you not, try to convince me that rear exiting exhaust added performance due to the additional "thrust" of the exhaust pushing the vehicle forward... I didn't even know what to say...

I would have to disagree with that comment. I never heard what my exhaust sounded like without the tip until I had it off for a couple of days while I was cleaning and polishing it. There was a big difference in sound without the tip, not in a good way either. I feel that the size of the tip definitely plays a part in the sound of the exhaust. The larger the diameter and longer the tip is, the deeper the exhaust tone will be.
At least for my setup.
