I really like the fender lip on the rear fender, nice work. Do you have a stretcher?

I got a srinker/stretcher from Eastwood. It was alot of money, but I thought it would more than pay for itself if I fixed the fenders instead of paying someone else.I may sell it when I am done but more toys are always cool to have. It took about an hour to make both panels. I used a practice piece of steel first to get used to the tool.

Good progress and nice work!..I was wondering though, is that a front or rear fender? I'm only guessing because I don"t know the
52"s that well, but that is a common repair on the 53-56 models if it is a rear fender...but the hole (for the running board?) , would indicate a front fender on a 53-56,as mine has 3 bolts in that area on the rear fender... and only one at the running board to front fender..Confused yet? ...LoL!
Also, I was wondering what method you used to align the new part to the original fender..did you temp bolt up the fender to the bed/cab/front clip? then tack it in place to insure alignment?..or did you use a straight-edge clamped to the original?..or is it just close enough...LoL!
The reason I ask is because I"m about to repair the wheel lip/wheel opening on mine, and have been tossing the idea"s around in my mind how to go about it...and still get it straight, I"ve pretty much decided to clamp the fender to a large piece of 3/4" plywood to do the surgery, that way, the fender is not wobbling all over the place as I work on it, and still easier to get all around it instead of it being bolted to the truck. I understand this is only really needed until it"s tacked into place..and there is still the concern that once cutting begins, the steel may"spring" in directions unknown...LoL! More fun to come!
Thank"s!...your humble bodyshop apprintice...

Thanks for the coments. This a rear fender off my 52. I measured in 21/2" and made my panel 21/2'' . then used a straight edge and my line of site to make sure it was flush. I do like your idea of bolting it to plywood sheet.

WOW that looks Super!!!!

VERY nice job!

Hint on pictures: Next time you go to post pictures, and the little box pops up for you to copy the link, DON'T copy the "http://" start at the "www." When you go to paste it at the thread, there is already an "http://" in the box you paste the link down in and if you copied it from the other one you have two of them, and the picture just "box Xs" on you!

Best,
Julie!

That is a really hard piece to make on the rear fenders, I spent about a solid week before giving up and ordering 'glass fenders. Great job!
