I bought a set of wires for my 86 460 and they havent lasted 1 year. I did go with a set from orieley's aroung 35 to 40 bucks. I am asuming they are not good quality. Anyone have some suggestions on a good set that will last a while. thanks scott.
I just bought a set of 9 mm ford racing wires in blue also come in red for like $41 from Summit racing but then you need to add the shipping and handling so might want to see if there are other things you need when you order it to make it worth while. Thats what I do.
Scott,
Speaking of plug wires I was thinking the other day maybe I ought to change mine on my 460. I bought a set of Belden from NAPA in 1999 & 50,000+ miles & 9 years they still are working. What are the wires you have doing? One thing I do on my plug wires is use a di-electric grease in the boots to both insure a good tie seal & to make them easier to remove. You know how the heat glues the boot to the plug many times, well the grease stops that.
I like the Auto Zone wires also. But I don't buy the expensive ones.
Heck the post above on Summit is good $41 + $9.95, that is still only $51.
You have those metal heat shield exhaust gaskets in place. I couldnt get a set to last a trip untill I installed those back on the engine.
Those Mr Gasket Nomex plug boot covers help as well.
Heat will do a trick on the boots.

I have been running Taylor wires for the past 15yrs, best set to day went 5yrs 150,000+ miles and were still perfect (I used that truck for hauling for hire livestock) I have never used thier high energy sets (the cheapies from them) but they are only 31.98 on summit, I prefer the spiropro with the molded on plug ends that are 47.95 on summit.
Just my personal choice, first time I saw the way the plug end was done I quit messing around with the junk everyone else puts out.
