if its a manual like a borg warner t 18 or t19 it is possible jus tak the 6 bolts off the top of the trans and the whold top plate will come out .... ive actually got my whole tran(t19) apart right now
Not sure what trans you have but I dont think it is possible on any trans.
I agree. even if you could get it to disconnect from the throwout bearing carrier and then bend or break the lever anti rattle springs and then cut a bigger hole in the bellhousing I fail to see how you would ever get it back in.
by clutch fork do you mean the fork that sticks out of the side that the pedal rod moves? I'd say yes, if it's an NP 435. Mine came right out of the spring clips no problem, the problem would come in when it's time to put it back in. I don't know how you'd see the clips to re-engage the fork...
It is an NP435 and I can tell the suspense is killing you all. If ya gotta know my buddy put in the wrong fork. It is out of a mechanical linkage style, it looks the same but it must be a little different as it will not let the clutch engage. I am thinking of maybe making a shorter rod for the slave so it will come back farther. So did one of you guys say that it will come out of a NP435?
I think you just solved my problem. I just put an np435 in my truck and the clutch wont engage. I know for sure the fork is from a manual linkage system but my truck is hydraulic. Is that really the problem? I didnt think the forks would be different.
They look very similar in appearance but near as I can tell the pivot point is different on the manual one. I bet you had a really hard time getting the slave in behind the fork right? For a quick fix I drilled a hole in the fork where the rod sits and took a bolt and ground the head off round to match the original slave rod and then threaded a nut on and shoved the bolt through the hole. That way you can adjust the "rod" to the proper length ( it needs to be shorter) Mine seems to be engaging fine now.
