I had my brother order the 2" spring pack lift for his 2003 F250 4x4 6.0. The parts looked to be great quality, however the pin/bolt that holds the leaves together was too long and the nug was too big to allow the clamp plate to sit on top of the springs. We had to cut the bolt down and drill out the hole in the plate a bit. On top of that the U bolts were WAY too long. I had to cut about 2" off the driver's side just to get the deep socket to reach the nut.
Anyone else experience this? I feel like either they got the parts mixed up or they were expecting there to be more leaves. We would have stopped the install but we already had everything apart when we figured this out. The instructions in the box are for 99-04 F250.
Messed up spring packs? They're Icons. Call them and ask about that, b/c branded parts from companies with that kind of name recognition shouldn't have to be modded to fit, especially for a drop-in application.
Long u-bolts are pretty standard from what I've seen, you just chop the top off with a hacksaw. You probably just got the generic brand, generic length that covers a few different kits.
Its pretty common to have to cut the excess of the center pin, but the head should have fit. Perhaps you put them in upside down and the head is smaller than the nut?
I can understand the U bolts, but the pin/bolt that holds the leaves together shouldn't have to be modified and neither should the stock plate that goes on top of the top leaf. The nut from Icon was too wide to allow it to sit down flat.
