It should only be done by someone with a recycling machine as it is both illegal and harmful to the environment to vent refrigerant.

Yep, however if something were to jam itself into the shrader valve on the system, the refrigerant will leak out.

Yeah, high pressure refrigerant. Why are you changing the condenser?

Um. Schreader valves have a removable core right? Maybe use a stem tool to losen it and vent a bit before you just jam something in there..... it works on tires.

you could accidentally get a hose from the car parts store and let it release it under your hood so no-one sees it....it could just happen like that lol....a few more cfc's wont hurt the atmosphere lol

I am replacing it because i had the luck of running into a lil ole lady who's spare tire completely warped my condenser. I am just hoping that nothing is wrong with the leaf spring which it looks like it might be so.

I don't believe that 134a refrigerant is a CFC. The old R12 was but it was fazed out in the mid 1990's.

The EPA and recycling industry would prefer you didn't vent it into the atmosphere still. Come to think of it, I haven't heard much about CFCs and the ozone layer in many years. Al Gore must have created a new one shortly after finishing the internet.

134a is an HFC...not near as harmful as CFC.
