Hey guys I bought a 1985 F-150 a year ago from a farmer down the street. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is possible to convert the interior to a newer interior like a 93'-95' interior. I want to upgrade the interior because the dash is cracked really bad and the seats are worn out. I appreciate any and all comments thanks.
Why not simply get a dash pad that's not cracked and seat? I know that they are elusive to find in a junkyard...but they do indeed exist. I got lucky with mine as it was cracked bad and a sheet of plywood woulda been better than what I had for a "seat" when I got it. For the seat, you can use all the way up to a '96. I'm on the lookout for a blue cloth with the fold down armrest/drinkholder myself.
However to answer your question. I'm sure it could be done...but it wouldn't be cheap I'm sure. Quite possible that some people on here have done just that same swap.
Thanks for the reply man. i thought about getting a dash pad for it but i cant seem to find one in the junk yard by my house. Ill be looking at your pics asap man.
Too me it would be alot easier to replace your cracked dashpad with a good one from the junkyard. I know it's unsightly. Have you considered getting a dashmat? Kinda like a carpet for your dashpad, but it's form fitted. Can get one of those for about $20.00 from ebay all day long. If you do manage to find a good one (and they are out there), you can use a quality vinyl paint to have it match your truck. Don't stop there, refinish all the interior trim and it will look worlds better. Trust me, it's what I did with mine. I repainted all the interior. Another benefit if doing it this way vs putting a whole new dash in is that you're not changing anything that would stop ya from driving it. Changing out the whole dash/instrumentation is not something that could be done in a few hours. And then you're gonna need new door panels to line up with the new dash...and that's more expense.
The 300 is fine for what I do. I get an honest 17-18mpg around here which is plenty acceptable for me. Lotsa new trucks won't even get that much. It's not a rocket though, but I don't have any problem keeping up with and passing any traffic. Thanx for the comment!
Hey, believe it or not my dash in my 4x4 was TOAST, looks worse out of the truck now, but anyways, I looked in every "good lookin" truck in the junkyard, cracked dashes everywhere. Found a 81 bronco that was rolled, perfect dash, had to dismount it upside down, but it was perfect. Asked the owner what happened to the truck, he said in 81 a high schooler's mommy and daddy bought the new truck, 3rd day he had it he rolled it. You just gotta look for stuff like that, it was perfect blue to.
