Top front light bar

I have been looking for something like this, and finally found it featured on a vehicle on ebay. Does anyone know where I can find one of these for my Excursion?

It spans the top of the windshield, had a Surburban with it and loved it's look. Would like to add it on.

Thanks.

Awesome, that's exactly waht I was looking for, and I've been looking forever it seems. Are they vehicle specific, or a one size fits all type deal?

For some nutty reason, it won't let me rep you. Says I need to spread it around, but I've repped other people recently, and I don't think i've hit you up yet. I'll try again later. Thanks though, the info is great. Makes me wonder what i was doing wrong searching for days and not finding a thing.

Lund makes 4 types. Lunar, Lunar aerodynamic, Solar, and solar aerodynamic. With the lights it's the lunar series. The aerodynamic series is more rounded and formed version, while the non aerodynamic is old boxy, square looking one.

I'm taking one off my X if anyone is interested in it- that is if I get it off in one piece- I hate the thing!!! increase in wind noise, light bulbs burn out often, gaskets leak allowing water into the light sockets, and installation does a number on the roof of the truck-
I like the way they look, but hate everything else about it!!!

Can you tell me how difficult it is to install? Can you get it with matching paint, or do you have to have it painted?

I didnt do the install-It came on my X when I bought it not too long ago- But if you do it the way this one was- it doesnt look difficult- I believe you have to either pay extra for color matching, or have it painted yourself- It looks like two bolts into the roof near the center area of the visor, and then there are two "flaps, one over the passenger door and one over the driver door- they are pop riveted into the roof on my X- and there is some type of bracket that mounts in the door jams-It doesnt look like that difficult a job at all- but its effects are permanant

For these reasons is why I will not install one and also decreases gas mileage. But it's a personal choice.

They aren't too bad. I've only installed them on a S10 and a F150. The F150 was a nightmare though, we had fitment and wind noise issues for several weeks. I think the customer decided we had done all that could be done and lived with it.

The install is basically, a sticky pad or two with a stud on them. We would insert the studs in to the visor, put a little double stick tape on the bottom and put the visor in it's installed position. Removed the nut on the studs and lifted the visor off so that the studs/pad stayed in place. Then we marked the location with tape, laying down pieces to make the outline. Removed the pads, cleaned the area, then cleaned it again. Removed the backing from the pads and stuck them down. Then reinstalled the visor. The visors we did required 3 holes in each door frame, we punched a pilot dimple and pre-drilled a pilot hole. The Self tapping screws went in easy, then once they were down, we checked that it didn't interfere with closing the doors. Unfortunately, the F150 didn't and we had to grind it down after install.

I had an older version called "Supervisor" 30 some years ago on my F150. It was relatively simple to install, except it was 12 large rivets on the top side and 4 smaller rivets in each end which wrapped inside the door frame with aluminum tabs.

I never had any noise problems, the only annoying thing was snow packed up in the underside during heavy snow storms while wheeling around. But who purposely goes out to drive around in snow storms all hours of the night for fun with four wheel drives...

Here's a picture. If you look closely at the picture you can see me in there 30 years ago.....

Not trying to make anyone mad but the only thing those SUNVISIORS or what ever they are called looks good on are 1949 Studebakers.

I think all the new ones are fiberglass and kinda thin at least the ones I have seen are. These "things" flex and warp making all kinds of strange sounds, not to mention the damage that is left behind after removal. I knew someone that had one on a F-150.
