We rented "Fly Me to the Moon" the other day, a cgi flick for the kids. Set in 1969 around the Apollo missions. About 20 minutes into it I spotted a bumpside sitting in a driveway. Later camera angles showed the dash and a drive off shot of the same truck. I was impressed at how accurate the animators were in reproducing it. The headliner and even the exposed weatherstripping around the door openings (interior) was modeled. The blue oval in the grille was out of place but it looked good. Someone spent a long time on this thing in a 3D application.
Below are some pics, sorry for the quality. Had to photograph the tv.
huh? i dont get it. they photoshopped the truck and computer animated it or something?
No, the truck was created in a 3D application. Basically, they built it in the computer from scratch, or at least the parts that can be seen. Think really high-tech video game but with a F100 and not an F-18.
Yes. Along the lines of Toy Story and A Bug's Life, just not as good imo.
-The guy in the truck was on his way to NASA with some flys (the main characters) who later hitchiked in a Saturn V on it's way to the moon. Lame plot I know, but for the writer to pick an F100 over all of the other sweet muscle cars (already rendered in 3D) that a tech from NASA could have been driving in '69 was pretty cool.
That one Simpsons video game that came out a few years ago (Hit and Run) has one in it, too, as a vehicle that drives around. You can get in it and drive it, it has a bunch of barrels of radioactive waste in it. Looks like a '67, but I haven't played it in a while to check for sure.
