Odd vibration

Guys when i go down the road at 35-45 mph there is a odd vibration and when i hit a bump at any speed there seems to be a small clunk. The clunk seems to be coming from the center. It sounds almost like a bad bushing. One of our customers and good friends has a real bad back so i helped him go out and get day old for his animals. He said his old 94' F-250 with a 351 ec lb did the same thing and his center bearing was gone. He sad it was around $140 to replace. Now im looking for your input on the possible problem and how much it may cost to fix. Thanks in advance justin

my '91 did the same thing when i first got it, turned out to be the carrier bearing on the drive shaft. replaced no more vibration.

vibration and clunks can be a multitude of things--tires, tie rods, ball joints, driveshaft, ujoints...etc, etc. Need to get under it and start inpecting.

Well from what i saw the front shaft from the pumpkin to the passengers side seems to have an awful lot of play. It seems to start at a boot in the middle of the shaft. how bad of a job is it to do u joints etc up front?

it sounds like that boot is the slip joint. a driveshaft shop can weld and balance a new end on for you
