heys guys, im new to trucks and i have a couple questions. i have a 96 f250 powerstroke that needs a new bed. i have found bed from an 1989 f250 that looks like it might work. i made sure the length is the same(8ft) and it has dual tanks just like my current bed. are there any problems i might face doing this swap? and are there any articles i could read that tell me exactly how to do a bed swap? i appreciate any and all help, thanks guys
Okay, here goes my experience.
1. 1988-1996 beds will fit...only difference that I know of is the tailgate stules.
2. Holes from all those years will line up.
\3. Only problem I've ever had is trying to stop the carriage bolts from spinning. I've tried making them into big screws by slicing the head in half. I've tried vise grips. I have not tried welding nuts to the top of them because I don't currently have aMig.
4. Picking them up requires at least 2 big folks...better off with 3.
that bed will work fine. the swaps not too complicated just take the lights out, make sure the wiring is out of the way disconnect the gas fillers and lift it off, simple
