Question Remote Start

Hi guys and gals .
I recently bought a 2000 F150 xlt.
It has no remote,I have tried the key on/off cycle
and got no response.
My question is about adding remote start.
Is there a preferred manufacturer,and method ?

thanks,Jack.

DEI is pretty popular for remote start/alarms. I have the Autopage RS1000 and I am really happy with it.

DEI is a big name, they make several brands. However, I love my compustar P2W900FM over anything else offered right now. As you search for one, pick out the features you want, ie door input/out (pretty much standard), battery backup, thermometer, turbo timer, timed/temperature remote start, Aux output #s, 2 way remote. Let range alone, unless it's a decider between your preferred choices.

Thanks guys.
Compustar seems to be big with the retailers around here.
It will not require I leave a key in the dash some where, will it ?

No, Compustar has interface modules. The last data link I did, it was almost seemless. Because it was a CAN, it took care of the VATS, locks and several other features. You probably will not get as lucky, but your interface should program in nicely. There is a idata link connector on the upper end brain boxes, this plugs into the idata interface. I think it will have to spliced into the PATS wire, but this is probably the only connection it will need. The rest of the functions are easily tapped in to with the brain box.
