I am ordering Shorty Headers from a company called Sanderson. I asked about gaskets and I was told they use some kind of weld that permits the use of Silicone for the gasket. i questioned the salesperson again and was told again " yes it works very well.
Has anyone used silicone for header gaskets????????
I remember people saying it had worked for them with the Sanderson headers when I was going through the 351C 351M/400 engine forum. Would recommend searching that forum to confirm.
I used a graphite gasket by Remflex for my 400 with Hooker headers. The gaskets are able to crush up to 50% and seem to be working fine so far. I was able to pick them up at a local Napa for under $20.
