Jeff, I think he was looking some help with his sheetmetal swap, not to come to your winter bbq.

You grumpy left coast folk are too deep in your winter soltice.

Go help your neighbor, for goodness sake.

Thanks for the support John..LOL

I look forward to a coastal trip..

I think I've got the sheetmetal dliemna figured out..Jackstands, a trailer, and a few bored teenagers should do the trick...

Another question though..Looking at cab mount kits on BOTC.
The 61-66 kit is different than the 67-72 kit. The rubber pieces on the 66 are the same thickness, however on the 67 kit the rear mounts are thicker than the front. My question is which kit? I called BOTC and their reply is that I have to play with it because I am doing something that shouldn't be done..What kind of response is that??!!

I am perfectly aware of what he is after as I can read. I was simply being friendly by introducing my self and letting him know a few other members that were around the area and in the future we are going to get together again.

If Gilderdad would like my help some weekend he can PM me.

Have you checked Dennis-Carpenter.com?

Bill should know about specific differences, but since everything is so similar from 65-72 I can't imagine that it would matter.

Click on the members name and a list of options come up, from there click on send private message. You might not be able to do that until you post a few more post now that I think about it.

You can email me at bigblockford_360 which is at yahoo.

I looked in the parts book for the 64-72 pickups and the rear cab mounts on the 65/66 are a different thickness than the 67/72. There was only one thickness for the 65/66 but there were several for the 67/72. I have no idea what would be the correct mounts to order. I would suggest you order both kits and put the 65/66 mounts on and see if they will work. If not try the 67/72. If you order both, come the day of the swap you will have them and can always return the other set or sell them on Craigs list or Ebay.

I tend to do that on my projects when in doubt, buy both and return the extra pieces.

Ok..
Finally have the cab gutted and the bed ready to pull on the 72.
The WB on the 72 is 131 and the WB on the 66 is 129..

Where is the 2" difference going to bite me on this swap?

I am assuming it will be in my rear wheel well...

Yep, it sets you wheels back further in the rear wheel wells. You can cheat a little and set your bed a little further back. Another option is to move the axel forward. I'm in the middle of my swap with a 79. Bad part about a swap is once you pull the old one apart you want to make the frame and suspension look like new again. I have a pile of stuff needing sand blasted and painted. I am going with all new brake components. No need to go fast if you can't stop, lol. Thanks for the 4X4 idea. I don't have a proper tree or a frame capable of doing the swap either. I used my cherry picker with an extension to remove the old sheet metal from the 79. It was a one man job, but I can't take the chance of denting my 66, so another solution is in order.

If 2WD, the 1964/66 absorbers (cab mount cushions) are not the same as 1967/72.

Regardless of the year, the upper absorbers are not the same size as the lower absorbers.

1964/66 F100/250 2WD // 1964/72 F100/250 4WD & F350

4) C4TZ-8100154-C . Lower Absorber

4) C4TZ-8100155-C .. Upper Absorber

1967/72 F100/250 2WD

4) C7TZ-8100154-A .. Lower Absorber

Do NOT remove doors from the cab if the truck is on jack stands.

It will be a PITA to re-hang them.

Doors should only be removed if the vehicle is sitting on hard LEVEL ground, preferably concrete.
