as you can see i am new to this site and have a lot of questions, i have resently started "fixing up" my dads old 1968 f-100, short bed, 4x4, 360, manual steering/brakes/trans,and have came to find out it is farly rare truck i guess. Ive never seen any for sale, cant find a lot of info on it, and have trouble finding some parts for it if the parts im looking for even exist ?
ive just now got it running and moving and o ya its lifted 6 inchs and is sitten on 35s and i want to get it set up with power steering and brakes, i found a brake boster but as for the steering i havent been able to find a power steering box that bolts right on, did they even make one or will it need to have a custom set up. also its sitten on 6 inchs worth of blocks and add-a-leafs so i was looking for some lift springs and cant find them for f-100 just broncos and f-150, are they the same as f-150s ?
im sure i will have more quetions to come, glad to be part of this forum, thanks for the help matt.
Welcome aboard Matt. Sounds like you got a really neat truck. Not sure on the "rarity" part, just maybe in your neighborhood. What you listed is a pretty std truck for the era.
I can't spit out part numbers and ideas as I've never owned a 4x4 version(wanted to though).
The springs might have to be custom made, of sorts. Since the F150 didn't come around til mid 70's, they are likely not going to fit. You'll have to do some measuring and compare.
ill try to get some good pics here soon, when the weather gets better. maybe its not that rare anywhere else but here in washington ive never seen that make in that year but what ever.
Actually up in your neck of the woods, these older trucks seem to be more plentiful. At least by the way they come up for sale on Ebay, Craigslist, etc. Over here in the rust belt they aren't around as much anymore.
