Is there a way to tell if my 01' Ex is blessed with this diode? From what I can tell, it was first sold in December of 00', which doesn't mean a whole lot, I know. Seems to me there must be some way to tell. Not sure what I can do about it anyway, but with only 38K on my rig, I'm going to be looking over my shoulder until something nasty happens. On the other hand, if I do know the diode is down there, I'll just worry more. Maybe I don't want to know if there's a way to determine this. Damned if I do and damned if I......
Sure are a lot of Hummer ads on this Ex forum. Hmmmmmm!! Wonder if they have mechanical diodes in the tranny?

Reason: Add-on
All diesels from the start of '01 production in July, 2000, until March, 2001, had the mechanical diode. Unless yours was rebuilt after leaving the factory it has a mechanical diode in it.
Thanks a lot, Mark. Now I can stop worrying about it and just wait for it to go. 'Course if my percentage of the bailout is big enough, I'll go to John Wood and bulletproof the whole issue.

JW tranny in my Excursion.
When I kill the one in my '02 F250 I'll replace it with a JW built monster too.
