The bell housing for a 460 (or any other motor) won't bolt up to your diesel but I THINK if you already have the bell housing the T-19 off of any motor will bolt to it.

The t-18 and 19 used the same input shafts,as far as Ford trucks were concerned. I have a t-18 behind a 6.9. You do need a diesel bell housing or a few machine shop tools to make the mod.

Keep in mind the gas and diesel T19s had different 1st gear ratios. Have you considered changing over to a ZF5 speed.

The T 19 bolts to a bell housing.
All the rest of the transmissions have integral bell housings made on the transmission case.

That fact makes the T 19 the only transmission you can swap between a diesel and gas engine without modifications to the transmission.
A 460 gas engine is close, but it will not bolt up.

I would advise you to find a gas trans, the diesel one has a higher first gear and it's rough enough with a diesel at times

I have the t-19 in my 86 6.9. For the most part it is ok. Pulling a load on the flats, it starts off ok.
But if you are on a hill, you have to play with the clutch to get her rolling.
I have the 3:55 Differential. With the 4:10 Differential it would probably get rolling ok.

The t-19 has the high first gear.

The t-18 has the low (granny low) first gear.

The gasser t-19 doesn't have granny low, but it is lower than the diesel.

Back in the day they actually offered a kit, to regear the diesel tranny to the gasser first gear for heavy load applications.

Good to know, I thought it had the Granny Low.
I do have a 3 speed Brownie I would like to install. Deep under, Direct and OD.
Picked it up with all the drive lines, and shifter for $275.
Problem is the front fuel tank it a foot too long with standard Cab.

That's a really good deal! Some of those boxes fetch more than they're worth sometimes.

And on mine there already isn't much room between the transfer case and the fuel tank so I know exactly what your talking about. I guess you can remove it and go with that large bronco rear tank everyone loves.
