found on road dead? i think not

that stuff that chevy owners use like found on road dead is nothing but a bunch of *****. now i look at fords most of them have all the original motors ans alot have over 100,000 miles(like mine 150,000 miles) and all are still running and are still goin pullin stumps out doing hard work or just cruisin around the chevys on the other hand are the ones neednign to be rebuilt after 100,000 miles and spillin oil everywhere. my trucks leaks alittle oil to but not nearly as much as the chevys ive seen anyway ford rules and those other guys can say what they want but they all no the truth and that just makes them mad! well just sougth id had my two cents.

LAST EDITED ON 19-Apr-01 AT 07:14 PM (EST)[p]Exactly! Ford's are also much easier to work on (when they need it that is) and I just like having a vehicle where the Distributor is mounted at the front of the engine like it should be! (yes, I know some of Ford's engines had the rear mounted distributor)

But, with more money you can make a chevy run faster!

That's the remark I keep hearing! Yes, it's true with more money you can make anything run faster, the only problem is the faster you make a Chevy run. The faster it will get you to the parts house to get you more parts. Unless it breaks down between home & the parts house.

I am going to get some critics on this one, but here goes.
(first off, I hate chevs and gm's, so I am not taking up for them).
My cousin bought an 88 gmc 4x4, with a 305 new. I was asking him the other day when he was going to trade it for a ford
He says that he has never needed major work, and that his truck is reliable and paid for. I asked how many miles, and he told me to go and look. 561,000 Kilometers!! (I am sure that 450,000 of those are in the woods, knowing him).
On the other hand, I know a guy that has a 68 ford shorty, with over 200,000 miles on the original engine. It works good, but he drives it real easy.

Distributor? What's that. Most modern vehicles don't even have them. Crank sensors and computers do that job now.

GM engines are by far the most modified and upgraded engines in the world!

Did you ever try to put a thermostat in an old Ford V8? That's when you wished the distributer was in the back.

My Isuzu diesel doesn't use a distributer either.

A 305 you say? Does he have the one powered by the hamster or the ferret? (He'd probably have more power than a 305 if he had a hamster pushing.)

The reason there is so many mods and aftermarket parts is because the chevy boys are constantly working on their trucks.

My first vehicle was a 92 F150 with 7k miles on it. It was an XL with power everything, 302, Auto, and 2 wd. I paid $8800 for it 95! I drove it to 14k miles and the tranny went bad on it, then it went out again at 26k miles. That truck would get up and go and was plenty fun to drive, but because I couldn't trust any farther than I could throw it, I sold it back to the dealer for $9000 ($200 more than I bought it for!) and bought a 78 Malibu with a 305. That was a realiable car, and it was driven very hard. My 305 TBI Camaro would run the 1/4 in the low 15's, which was fast for the '92 RS. I sold it to get some money for a house and bought the 87 Ranger I have now.(last friday actually). It seems to be really reliable (has 162k miles and runs like a top). But the most reliability issues I've had have been with Fords. The most realiable vehicles I've owned have been my Toyotas. I've had 5 of them, so I can judge. I also had 5 Fords (Licolns and Merc's included).

My point to all this crap is that one brand can dog another about certain issues, but what it really boils down to is personal preference.

My grandfather has an 88' F-150 6 cylinder with 220,000 miles and it runs great, doesn't burn any oil, same tranny and all, pulls 16,000 pound farm wagons in the fall with no problem, I have yet to see a chevy like that at the grain elevator!! Also, last in year in popular mechanics magazine, ford took number one spot in top ten sales with the F-150 and the Ranger took 8th, NOT EVEN ONE ch*vy truck on there, gm either, I think that is something to say about sales!! for me it is:

Found On Road Driving,.....Because they take crap and keep running like a top!!
