I just picked up an 05 on this weekend. Anybody have any advise or tips they want to share. First thing I need to do is get some new tires, I was thinking the Nitto Terra Grappler AT, are these good tires? Also what size should I go with and will a bigger tire affect fuel millage much? BTW I have the 17's.

Nice truck, but then again I'm partial... Check out the Cooper Discoverers. Real nice tires and still American made and owned. Larger tires will definitely affect your mileage in a negative way. I believe you can go up to a 35" without doing a lift. Do some searches and you'll find more info that you'll ever want or need out here. FWIW if you didn't know, the hubs on your truck are not available after market unless you go with an $1,800 system. 05+ is different than 04 and down. Also, the how-to on Guzzles site when you come across it is different than your set up. Good luck and welcome aboard.

Welcome to the 6.0 Forum!

To filter casting sand crud out of the coolant and keep the oil cooler from getting clogged look into a coolant filter from Dieselsite: http://www.dieselsite.com/index.asp?...ROD&ProdID=324

Keep the stock air filter as it does a great job, even up to 500HP.

Think long and hard before you add a tuner. It can cost big bucks to go faster than stock.

My truck has 35's but needed Bilstein leveling coils for clearance.

The stock shocks are junk and most guys replace them with Bilstein 5100HD shocks They make a huge difference!

Don't baby the engine too much. The VGT turbo needs a 'workout' on a fairly regular basis to keep the vanes from sticking.

Guess that's enough for now. Definitely read through the 6.0 Tech Folder as suggested above.

So the tuners are shortening the life of these trucks huh, what about changing the exhaust?

An aftermarket (A/M) exhaust will give a slight improvement in power, slightly lower exhaust gas temps (EGT), and a little better sound. I've got a cat-back system on mine with the A/M turbo down pipe sitting in the box until the warranty runs out.
