I have read all of the links and viewed all of the pix re cutting the X Member and welding it back together again Great pix and jobs. I suppose that I could crawl under my truck and answer my own question but I wouldn't have all the Xpert input.
QUESTION #1:
Could/can the rivets be cut and the whole X-Member be removed or moved out of the way to facilitate the removal of the pan?
QUESTION #2:
Could/can the rivets be cut on just one side and the other side of the X-Member be cut and re welded?
QUESTION #3:
Everyone says that it is a non-stress X-Member with a "Big" hole in it so is there any reason that it can't be bolted back together rather than welded?
There appears to be sufficient room to place several backing plates to bolt the X-Member together.
1. the x member won't come out with just the rivet removed, not enough room & the engine is attached to it.
2. See above
3. Yep, I plan on doing that next time as an experiment. Probably mine lol.
