You have a great truck. I have an 06 F350 CC DRW lariat with 57,000 miles on it. If you don't need a new truck right now I would hold on to what you have.
I have an 08 and I absolutely love it but if I knew back then what I know about the economy now then I probabaly would have waited.
They are awesome trucks but a truck payment shore as hell can strap your butt if the work ain't there.
I did some research and came up with a trade-in range of $18k to $22.8k in this market before I went in to negotiate. I needed more towing capacity so had to move up. I figured the $21k was reasonable in the market given the price for the new truck was what I paid for the 2006 2.5 yrs. ago with the rebates.
I definately wasn't knocking what you did. I think you faired quite well considering the crappy market right now. I was merely stating that I personally couldn't let mine go for that.
Drove by the ford dealer this week for the sake of boredom I thought I would look at the 09's well first I wanted to check the trade in value. They said something around 28k for my 450. I busted out laughing. Are you serious I asked. With a straight the sales men said yes sir. Well no longer willing to entertain the idea of getting an 09, I left in utter disbelieve. I can't understand how a 50K truck is worth half that in one year. I mean the truck is in perfect condition. Just goes to show how much they depreciate in one year.
And the employee pricing isn't all that either. If you get that, the interest rate is around 7.9% witch in the long run will end up being more than the money saved on employee pricing. I think I'll keep my truck.
Why would a dealer want to put a used truck on the lot that costs more than a new one?
The reason of the loss in value is because all these big Rebates.(anything to save money is good) It hard to belive that you can get a $50,000 truck for $37500 now and they are still making money.
What about all the negative equity ! I owe twice as much than shes worth. I figure every part on the truck will have been replaced before I will ever see the light of day. Onlt the 7.3 will be original to the truck.
Sell it yourself. I won't give the dealers the satisfaction of screwing me on trade-ins and then them trying to sell it for full used clean retail.
I owed $11,900 on my gas 05 F-250. Two dealers wanted to give me $8,900 trade-in. KBB and NADA used retail was roughly $l5,500. I marketed it myself for $14,000 and got it.
Market it aggressively with a price you will accept and it will be off your hands in no time.
The engine they have talked about scrapping is the 4.4L diesel for the 2010 F150.
It seems they scrapped it a little sooner than we all thought....
Someone rear ended the X and their insurance company gave me an '08 and then an '09 Expedition EL. If you look on the cluster, both have the "wait to start" glow plug indicator. Back in late 2006 and early 2007, Ford polled America asking the idea of a diesel was good for the Expedition. I don't know how the polls turned out, it seemed like they were going to go through with it, but for whatever reason changed their mind and scrapped the idea.
Go to FORD website and plug in your zip and the incentives come up. I think what they are offering now is employee pricing plus 5K off on diesels and 4K off on a gasser.
You weren't really going to get rid of that beautiful 450 were ya?
I'll give you $28,001 for it.
No I was not. I was just wondering what they would offer if I wanted to switch it up. I love this truck. I did tell you I would hit you up first if I decided to sell it anyway. I am a man of my work.
You know the employee pricing has it's draw backs as well. Sure you get a great deal on the sticker price, but the interest rate is something like 7% I thought that was crazy. But I do understand, I mean they need to make money as well.
Yesterday I traded in my 2002, 7.3, extended cab, Lariat, 48,000mi. They allowed $15,600 on a new 2008, 6.4, Lariat, crewcab, with just about everything on it. $25,000 difference with employee pricing and $4,500 rebate. This was at a Chevrolet dealer who has a Ford Dealership 70 miles away. I went there to drive a Duramax. They offered me $4,000 more for my trade-in than the Ford Dealer I was at the day before. They brought a truck over from their out of town Ford Dealer, it was the right truck so I bought it. I feel I was in the right place at the right time.
It seems they scrapped it a little sooner than we all thought....

Maybe the cost difference in gas & diesel in 06 looked a little better to everyone in 06-07. Diesel in my area is running .70-1.00 more than regular right now. 2 years ago if I recall it was pretty close to even. Diesel is now coming off the top of the barrel instead of the bottom. More diesels on the road, more demand. Most folks buying diesel now do so because of need. Probably NOT a good formula for bringing out more diesel power domestic people haulers if you goals are sales and profits. Just my opinion of course.
You got a great deal. You'll love her. The 6.4's are awesome. It is a good thing you didn't get stuck with a dirtymax because you would be missing out for sure.
