86 F150 1/2 ton. Okay. I replaced the ignition fork deep in the steering column as it finally broke. The blinker switch was in need of replacement so I put a new one in. Blinkers quit working on the old one the day after the work was done. Ordered a new one thinking due to its age I pushed it past its usable limit. Put the new one in and now there are no blinkers or B/U lights. Checked the fuse and its good. Checked power to the fuse with the ignition on and there is no power at the fuse block. Swapped emergency blinker flasher with the signal blinker flasher and no joy. The E Blinkers worked and regular blinkers still didn't work.
Pulled the fuse block out to see if I could read the power behind the fuse, there is no wire going into the back part of the fuse. Now I am no electrician, however, I would think there should be some wire?? I noticed the fuse is loose and after looking a bit harder I noticed only one side in the fuse holder has a metal clip. During the ignition switch work I had to lower the steering column. Could the wire have slipped out??? I am in need of some electrical help here. I don't have any prints to check wire colors. The installed plug and the new blinker plug match up. All the wires seem to be correct. The original color has faded a bit but they look good. Well all i can say is Help!!!!
The use a "buss" in the fuse box. In other words you will have one large wire coming from the ignition switch, and it will feed all the fuses whose circuits only work when the key is in run. Then there is another wire and buss, that is fed by battery power. This will feed all the circuits that are powered all the time. The connection from fuse to fuse to fuse is made inside the fuse box itself.
I would be looking for some sort of pinched wire or something around that column. Seems like there is a short. I have a wiring diagram of that truck if it will help.
you can left click my user name and send me an email so that I may respond with the diagrams.
Or I can upload them and post them here.

Reason: forgot something
Franklin2,
Thanks for the help. When looking at the fuse diagram in the chilton after reading your post it clicked. Since I did nothing to the fuse block and everything worked prior to lowering the steering column I think I will start there next. As ZTITAN said there might be some thing pinched some where between the column wires and the fuse block.
Hey bud, I have been out of town but I am back now. I got the email but I need you to send it again with your Email address enclosed. The forum does not send that info when you use the in-forum email system.
