I was reading a post below and a guy mentioned that he had an F250 TTB IFS suspension. I thought all F250's were solid axle not IFS, how can you tell what is what? Do all F250's have leaf spring front ends or do some have coil spring front ends? Thanks Guys.
F-250's built prior to 1997 used the dana TTB front axle setup. They are a leaf sprung version of the lighter duty F-150 set up. The new superduty F-250's have the live front axle
Well the reason I asked is because I want to buy a truck and I haven't decided what to get. I want a mid to late 80's heavy duty pickup (have had the F150's and they just don't do it for me). I have heard it is a lot cheaper to lift the Solid Axle rather then the IFS, is this true. Therefore would it be better to buy an F250 4x4 or an F350 4x4. I want either a supercab (F250) or a crew Cab (F350) 4x4 Diesel. What will be my best bet to lift?
I have a 1997 dana 50 TTB equipped F250 with a 460. I am going to lift my truck after uncle sam gives me my money back. There is a superlift 6" kit for $1400 from 4 wheel parts wholesales. You can get a 6" kit for a F350 (just a F250 with a Dana 60 solid front) for around $1000. (kits I am referring to are COMPLETE, you can get much cheaper). I would get a f350 if I could do it again. no big deal though, my neighbor has a similar year truck as me that is the f350, and I like the way that mine rides better with the TTB front end.
