Our Thanksgiving went bad this yr.My wife slipped & broke her leg. She goes in for surgery in the morning to but 2 plates in to hold it together. I'm sorry I haven't been on much since it happened but I've been too busy & I really wasn't ready to talk about it yet. I'd appreciate any prayers for her. Its a bad break right above her ankle & both bones are broken. She has to go 6 weeks after the surgery before she can put any weight on it. I guess Christmas will be kinda of down too. She is ready to get the surgery over with in the morning. Her mom is staying with us to help her.She is a big help. I'll post her surgery results tomorrow.
Well the surgery went good. She will be 6 weeks before she can put weight on it. Thanks for the prayers & kind thoughts. I'll keep the updates coming. She goes back on the 19th for her first followup.
I can only pray - and it comes from someone that really doesn't amount to much
Let us pray....
Almighty one
The body itself has the gift of healing which you gave to us.
Grant that it is successful, and the belief in it is strong in her for which we care very much!
We know that from you come all good things, and I do not doubt in this lady at all.
I know her man, and he is strong in faith.
We know that healing often takes much time, less if the knowlege that it will happen is sure
Faith of the many is like unto a donation of will - that a power is passed to the needy
Let it be so then! That the work be done if not quickly -
Than that it will be completely and surely completed - so that this one for which we care is whole once again.
Thanks for the prayers. They are working. The first night after the surgery was a bad one for Lisa but she made it ok. I kept her leg covered with ice & made her take extra pain meds. It hurt real bad after the surgery nerve block wore off. She is doing much better today. I got my first full nights sleep since she got hurt. Keep us in your prayers please. Lisa has a strong faith & just knowing others are praying for her really gives hope to her.
Glad to hear surgery & all is going as well as can be expected. Its a blessing to know she has the comfort of love ones and friends to pull you both thru this time comsuming time.
Ours prayers are steady with you guys.
I thought a update is in order. Lisa has this down now. She can run me & her mom to death & we can't fuss. She is feeling as good as can be expected. The pain seems to be much less. She & I believe the prayers & get wells are really helping. Keep them going for her recovery & understanding & patience for me & her mom.
Being a Smith and Nephew employee I know a little of what is on this ankle. Barring infection, she should be as good as new. It will hurt for a while, but as soon as the doctor wants her to do some therapy, make sure she follows up. That makes all the difference in a fast recovery.
I am praying that everything goes well! Looks like you are on top of it.
Just checking in. Pain is going to happen, but be alert to too much of it...
Help it heal - don't go too far too fast. But don't go too slow.
The best medicine is to listen to your body so that you know when you are doing it good.
(GYM RAT knowlege)
-And be sure to supply yourself with everything you can possibly need in nutrition. If you have a craving for something go there!
It might be your body asking for a nutrient you need.
Ladies in pregnancy go through that, it means something is required. Listen carefully to your body.
Above all else - diet is essential to healing.
Whatever you do, don't run out of milk, and have lots of vitamin and mineral tabs she can take. The daily amount should be doubled, except that some vitamins in excess become toxic. I think two multi's a day won't hurt. Ask her doc about that!
Good ideas Dutch. We are very lucky on these though, Lisa's doctor gave us a good diet plan to follow. She also gave a list of vitamins to take & ones to avoid. I was very impressed with the thoroughness of this doctors list of dos & don'ts. She gave us several pages of care & diet she wants us to follow. She list all meds to avoid & which ones to take. Lisa is doing as well as expected. I have watched for any new pain due to infection. So far she has no new pain or fever.I'll post what we learn this Friday when she goes back for her first followup appointment. Keep us in your prayers. We still have 5 weeks till she can put weight on her leg & I expect several weeks of PT after that time.It will take a lot of therapy to get her leg muscles built back after nearly 8 weeks in a cast.
