Is my engine get tired?

I notice when outside get cold and try start engine it start fine but I watch oil pressure it start 20 but slow sudden flatter at 30-35 then slow climb to 60 psi

To me I don't think it normal. It used to hit 60 psi fast than now. I use shell roatillet 5w40 synthetic but in summer I use shell 15w40.

I am worry if it bad now. last week it normal but now it not. Plus outside was pretty cold than last week.

I use motorcraft oil filter and oil have 2,000 miles and color still gold.

If it holds 30 under most operating conditions, and holds 20 at idle, that's all you need.

It run fine but I mean when it very cold. Like next day when you start it very slow increase oil pump. Is this due worn out oil pump?

It feel like you look at air compressor's gauge fill from 0 to 120? It almost similar but more slow than normal.

How cold is it? Normal for oil to be thicker in the cold, normal for it to take a bit of time to warm up.

Outside is 18oF

I try push gas pedal at 3,000 rpm it still slow climb to 60 pressures.

But when it warm 10 min it would climb fast like normal.

You're reving to 3krpm before full oil pressure? It's cold, oil is thick, let the oil get to the top of the engine, and thin out a little, before even thinking about touching that peddle!

Still, it's a 5W-40 synthetic, it shouldn't take that long for the pressure to rise. That is, if it is a real oil pressure gauge you are using. Got Castrol Syntec 0W-30 in the LS1, it jumps to 70psi (max) the instant it cranks.

it have real oil gauge because I didn't trust factory because I run 5w30 in summer and didn't think it fine so put real one and surprise when it get very hot it get 5 psi.

So today try start but not rev 3,000 just 2,000 rpm I notice it normal but if I run for 20 min then it 20 psi but I think it must be oil too thick for this one.

But it long time to warm up so I hope get my 89 F150 on road because I am tired of try drive with buck and stupper due cold.

Milwaukee, I had about the same problem with the very tired 300 that use to be in my 82 f100. Not sure how cold it gets in your neck of the woods, but around here it stays about 10-20 degrees all winter. I use to run 15W40 Rotella T in the old 300 all year.

The top end of my old 300 use to clank and clatter like crazy when I'd just hop in and start it right away in the cold, it would show 0 oil pressure for a couple seconds and then slowly climb up the gauge. So to remedy the problem on cold days I would just crank the engine over with the starter for a few seconds without starting the engine. Normally after 5-15 seconds of cranking the gauge would climb up to 60psi, once at 60psi then I'd activate my choke and fire up the engine. Once I started using the above method on cold days I never had any noise or oil pressure related troubles during starting again.

Gotta agree with the other fellas about revving it to 3000RPMS when its cold, not to good for a engine. I use to take an easy with mine, never running her much higher then 1800-2000 rpms while driving until the oil had a chance to warm up, and my pressure dropped to its normal range.

well head gasket on this engine blew up. it still run but will leak little coolant around outside head to block

Lucky no coolant in oil because I need use this until next week.

5w30 oil actual help but after head gasket blew cause over heat fast so oil break down fast black coal but it have 1,000 miles.

Now I will use 5w30 in 89 F150 in winter and summer 10w30 instead 15w40 too thick.

No need to change from summer to winter. Either way you have 30 weight oil at operating temps.

Ok

but need know 10w30 are thin than 5w40?

Now it run but oil pressure is 10 psi HOT for 5w30.

The "w" designation is for winter. At operating temps the 10w30 "stretches" to 30 and your 5w40 "stretches" to 40 but at cold start temps they will flow essentially the same.
