Hey Guy and Gals, I have a 53 with a 351 W motor. The PO installed a 78 Camaro front end. I want to install headers but am not sure where to take measurements or what to watch out for. Like how far they should extend down for clearance. Actually I don't even know enough about them to ask the right questions. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.
I hate to pass you off with nothing definative, but I think each application is a little different. I have a 51 F1 which has a narrower frame, with a 390 (which is a bigger engine) I had to have headers made that travel outside the frame.
But as I recall there was a post a few weeks back about headers and someone recommender "Sanderson" headers. I could be wrong.
I'd go up to the "Search this forum" box and type in Sanderson or Headers, and see who had those and what other folks have done, then if you don't get a lot of answers in this post, you can send PMs to those who had good advice and ask them to post here.
You could look at Sanderson's or at Red's Headers...I went with sanderson's and had to modify the inner fender to allow room to clear. with the 351 you might look at the "shorty-block hugger type and maybe custom fab the exhaust tube from there? Just a thought.

Thanks guys, I was looking on Summit and Jegs and couldn't find any type of measurments. But went to Sanderson and they actually have measurements on the width and length! I think I'll go with them and use the block huggers!
Thanks again, Lakotas53
