Transfer case

Hi
Does anyone know if a transfer case off of a manual transmission dated 1978 will work on a AT C6 dated 1979? i can get a C6 from mich. when i go home but dont know if i will have to bring the transfer case too.

You will need the proper output shaft for the C6 as well as the correct adaptor to the tcase. The tcase itself doesn't care what it's bolted to it's the adaptor and outputs that make the difference.

ok so i will just have to be sure i grab the transmission and the adaptor. correct?

oops forgot to ask. so that is the differnts just the adaptors?

yes that is the difference between them, the adaptor has to be able to bolt up to the transmission and the auto and manual trans have a different bolt pattern on the back side.

Be cautious of you use a short adapter with an auto transmission. Trans pan clearance can be an issue if you decide to tun any joint larger than a 1310. Long adapters should be used with the C6 to eliminate this problem.
