My guees would be a 205 if the truck has part time 4X4. If it's a full time truck then it would have a 203 and I'm not sure if the 203 even came behind a 390.

I agree because when the 203 came out the 390 had been replaced by the 400 smog motor.
Actually the 203 came out around 74 or so.
Someone a couple post down has a 76 w/390 and 203.
If it has a 6" alluminum tail housing or a 4" range box, then it is a 203.

Hi Loc then it's a 203.
Most 79s came with 351M or 400s, but it might of had a 300 I6 and they had a 390 on hand and just swapped it in.
Could be a number of things, but that one sounds good to me.
