carb cleaning trick
I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to get the polished aluminum look on a carb, without having to physically buff all the tiny grooves and crannies.
I have hot tanked an autolite 4100, and it is very tarnished. My son and I tried to buff it by hand, but that soon became futile. When I go on ebay, those 4100's are bright and shiny without paint, every crevice and groove!
I tried to email some of them, but they won't tell the secret. Does anyone know? There must be a chemical solution done after the hot tank to remove oxidation and tarnish.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
TY-D-BOL: The Ultimate Carb Cleaner?
"Not only does it do a great job cleaning your toilet, but Ty-D-Bol also works great for broiling out old, grungy carburetors. Put in an old, discolored, and corroded carb and pull it out looking like new. Be sure to remove all plastic and phenolic parts before placing the piece in the dip, and be prepared to install all new gaskets and seals."
