Looking for a rendering Steve Stanford did

it was featured letter to Hot rod in spring of 06 I believe . It was a F100, pie crust drag slicks, Buick wires, possibly gold..I can't find my issue, but I'd like to see it again...Even if you can guys just supply what issue it was in, I'd have a place to look. Thanks

Chris

hes been an automotive artist most of his life..one of the greats, been featured everywhere...are there a lot of custom guys here?. Or is this more of a resto and restomod forum..I'm not bashing anyone..more curious...the letter was in July 07 issue of Hot Rod..btw

The headlight bezels sort of look like '57s, which I really liked the front styling of. Cool looking truck though, but to answer your inquiry about if this is a resto or custom forum, I'd say most are pretty open-minded here, but my two cents worth is that I prefer my stuff stock and pretty much original. One of my reasons is that it seems like it is more unlikely to see stockers now than something that someone's either jacked up or lowered, added aluminum wheels and big tires and sprinkled some edelbrock parts here and there. Don't get me wrong, when I was young, I had to modify things, but the older I get, the more I appreciate things left alone. At a car show I could walk past a lineup of hotrods to peek inside a bone stock Fairlane, Valiant, Maverick, Chevette, whatever. Just because those types are becoming increasingly uncommon.

thanks for the input guys. I just don't want to come across as rude in any threads, etc. I have been around modified vehicles my whole life, while I respect someones decision to restore, it ultimately isn't for me..haha I did the flat rate thing while putting myself through the Ford ASSET program right out of High School. I ended up hating cars, so I went on to CNC machining...3 years later I went to Wyotech, brought my fab skills to the point where I ended up working at Rolling Bones Hot Rod shop. From there I came back to CT and now work in a production fab shop. I built my 65 Comet with my dad ( bought it from my uncle at 15, and it was my money from the start)...Now it has a 14 to 1 289 in it, and kind of a 60's era street race look to it. My 66 F100 is going to be a full tilt radical custom for lack of better terminology..mainly 60's era. I guess my fathers love of 60's era drag racing has worn off on my more than I use to admit..haha..I've had other cars, and only one has ever been stock. my current daily haha. Anyways, so thats me..Oh, and I usually walk right by hot rods as well..haha I hate car shows...

That drawing is very old school. IMHO

Can you make out the date on it?

The rendering was done in 2007, featured in The July issue of 2007.

Classic Truck Magazine featured the 66 F100 in 1 of the issues and they posted on website. I like it!!

Been letting Truck and Car magazine subscriptions expire, left with too many magazines once they have been read. See where few magazines are offering online subscriptions, one of which is CarCraft, after I renewed my magazine subscription; can't wait until more magazine get on board. Anyhow, had an urge to chime in.

was it a bare metal one with Econoline headlight surrounds and a moon tank in the grille?? If so, it was Jimmy Smiths (another insane automotive artist) truck. He has since sold it. They also had an article on how to chop a 61-66 f series.. Just saw the link to the page, different truck..heres another truck they featured

http://www.classictrucks.com/feature...100/index.html

and another

http://www.classictrucks.com/feature...100/index.html

http://www.classictrucks.com/feature...ody/index.html

They don't list Jimmys truck, but they have the article (wrong photo)

Looks cool. Had the article 'chop top' but seem to have misplaced the issue, however, did make a copy and have it filed away somewhere.

Now that's a cool 66 on the Classic Trucks web site, thanks for the pics. But I can only dream of that level of expense...
