I have a 1967 f100 with a 390 was running good till now,
once i get it started it runs good but when im in drive and step on the brake it shuts down its like the fuel line cuts off. i have to put it in nutreal to come to a complete stop. i changed the plugs distributer cap and roater and used a fuel system cleaner and still no luck. i think something might be clogged.
any help would be greatly appreciated!
Might want to replace the fuel filter and check your fuel pressure...then also check the idle speed in drive and readjust the mixture screws--a vacuum gauge works very good to adjust the idle mixture.... what is the dwell on your points? Wondering if they might be a bit tight....
Just stepping on the brake causes it to stall? Or only when coming to a stop?
Does it have power brakes? Could be a faulty brake booster causing a major vacuum leak when you step on brakes.
Good idea Bill. That's the problem with internet, I don't always type everything I'm thinking. I tend to leave out the little things I would do, like wiggle hose, check the fittings, etc.
how bout take your carburetor off the truck, set it on a workbench, and take it apart and thoroughly clean it out, then dial in the mixture, jet sizes, etc, and work on getting that timing where it needs to be.
