1988 F250 5.8 - running down the hiway and then nothing but a $100 tow job. I have fuel and had the ignition module tested, still nothing.
Any thoughts?

Check for spark. Check the fuel pressure. It could be the coil, could be a clogged fuel filter, or bad plugs, wires, cap and rotor.

OK, I have good fuel pressure. I do have continuity through the coil windings, I have had the ignition module tested - TOK. I am a bit at a loss without buying a few expensive parts and swapping on speculation.

If the coil and TFI are testing good then it sounds like the PIP sensor, located in the distributor, or the computer itself. Can you pull codes, even the "no codes" code would be a good indication the computer is working. Most people replace the whole distributor rather than tear it down to replace the PIP.

I think that you may have hit on it. I pulled the distributor, removed the module and did a continuity check on the PIP, one lead to ground - "A" the rest open, no continuity A-B, A-C,C-B,so I see a new distributor in my future vs PIP only.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.
