engine id
what is the best way to find out what motor is is my truck its an 82 f100 but not the original motor. its a small v-8 and the valve covers have 4 bolts each ( 3 on the outside and one in the center of the inside) the block is covered with a layer of oil and crap so i would have to scrub the whole thing down to find the casting number is there any other way to id the motor without the number

i will check when i get home but i know that the motor that is in the truck came with a/c because the bracket is still there sticking out like a sore thumb but my truck has no a/c...

it would have to be a 302. The 302 is the biggest motor that came in that generation F-100's. And when you open your hood on just under the front itll have it listed where its listed whether its a catylist truck or not

ok i looked at alot of pics and parts to a 302 and im pretty sure that is what i got so does anyone know where you can get a engine diagram for any of the systems i just want to make sure every thing is where it is supposed to be
