Hey guys, when my 03 6.0L is warm (not hot) my turbo makes a hi/low/hi/low/hi/low whistle. Also takes a while to warm up. 135,000 on the rollers. any ideas??
They all take a while to warm up its a diesel not gas.The turbo noise is very likely the turbo cycling through its movement to prevent sticking. It was one improvement in the latest flashes. Here is some info on your new motor.6.0 PowerStroke Page

My brothers is doing the same thing and it also does this thing while driving that you can hear the turbo wind up then down (almost like the truck farts)and when it does this you can see a puff of black smoke come out the pipe. Ford said today that it might be because of the AFE Stage II intake and the MAF sensor and they said to try and put the stock airfilter back on and see what happans then. It's crazy cause some times it will do it and some times it won't but it has always done the hi/low/hi/low thing
The AFE does make turbo fart more pronounced. Sudden drop in acceleration will make a fart almost every time if the truck is under load. The fart is what a blow off valve is doing in a fixed geometry turbo. The puff is the fuel that was only half burnt when you take your foot out of it.So I wouldn't be shocked if your bro get sent home with the tecs pointing at the filter.

Well the fart happans just crusing down the road you can have the cruise on and it will do it over and over but if you slam it to the floor it don't fill like it skips a beat. But once you put the cruise back one there it goes and once you get alittle load on (slit hill)the smoke is really noticable. Ford also told us that he might need to clean the turbo. The finns are stuck or something it would be on the exhaust side. That seems like alot of work.
Thanks man, We thought ford was on crack for sure. You have a guesstiment on how long it would take a couple of farms boys to do it
Also I'v thought of getting rid of my banks sixgun and getting the Sct X3 would that be a better tuner. I wanted to get spartan tunes but I guess I'll have to roll with the canned tunes for now.
